Hilary Pollack is a Los Angeles-based artist and culture writer. She earned her B.A. in Art Practice from the University of California, Berkeley in 2008, then spent over a decade working as an editor and journalist before returning to painting in 2023. Her work explores the intersection of grief, the interplay of feminine and masculine form, digital kitsch, social media culture, and early-2000s pop references, often using gouache and acrylic to construct chaotic, droll, emotionally charged scenes.

Thirst Trap in Hell, 2024

Prompted by a year of profound personal upheaval and loss, she revisited her art background and began painting again, this time with a perspective that integrates humor, nostalgia, and maximalism.

Vanity PL8, 2025

Her visual world blends monster trucks, internet ephemera, angelic bimbos, tabloid saints, and tragic glamour into something both sacred and unhinged.

Thirst Trap in Heaven (With 26 Cakes), 2024

Her work has been exhibited at RVCA Gallery in San Francisco and the Kroeber Art Gallery at UC Berkeley, with two upcoming solo shows planned for late 2025.
